Heavy

Heavy covers ratings 8 to 10, the wettest raceable ground on the Australian scale. Times blow out, fields often string out badly, and results can bear little relation to form on firmer surfaces. Heavy tracks reward genuine stamina and a particular high, round action, and they produce the widest gap between wet-track specialists and horses whose record is entirely on Good ground.

In use

Only three of the fourteen runners had ever won on Heavy going.
