Winner

The winner is the horse that passes the post first, though the result is not official until correct weight is declared and any protest resolved. Across Australian thoroughbred flat racing the market favourite wins roughly a third of races, which is the baseline any selection method has to be measured against. Naming winners more often than the favourite is a much harder standard than most racing products acknowledge.

In use

The favourite won, holding on by a head after a protest was dismissed.

On FormRace

FormRace publishes its top pick's win rate beside the market favourite's over the same races, including the months it trails.
