Market Mover

A market mover is a horse whose price has shortened or drifted meaningfully from its opening quote. Sharp shortening — a plunge or steam move — indicates money arriving with conviction, and late money in particular is treated as informed. Drift signals the opposite. Movement is information about what other bettors believe, not proof of the outcome, and by the time a move is visible much of the price advantage has already gone.

In use

Opened $9.00, backed into $4.60 by the jump — a significant mover.
