Drift
A horse drifts when its price lengthens from its opening quote because the money expected for it has not arrived. Severe drift on a well-fancied runner is read as a negative signal — the interpretation being that those closest to the horse are not supporting it. Drift is weaker evidence than it appears: prices also lengthen simply because money has gone elsewhere in the market.
