Strapper

A strapper is the stable employee responsible for the day-to-day care of individual horses — grooming, feeding, preparing them for trackwork and presenting them in the mounting yard on race day. The strapper leads the horse in the parade and is the person who knows its condition and temperament best. Well-presented horses reflect the strapper's work, and best-presented awards recognise it directly.
