In-Running

In-running refers to what happens during the race itself — both live betting markets that stay open after the jump, and positional commentary describing where a horse travelled. In-running comments in form lines ('settled last, wide from the 600m') are among the most useful qualitative data available, because they explain results that raw finishing positions do not.

In use

The in-running note reads 'held up for a run at the 400m' — a legitimate excuse.
