Colours

Colours, or silks, are the registered jacket and cap design identifying a horse's owner. Each set is registered with the principal racing authority and cannot be duplicated within a jurisdiction, which is what makes runners identifiable at distance during a race. Famous sets — the Ingham cerise and white, the Star Kingdom colours — carry recognition that occasionally attracts market support on reputation alone.
